Contact USG Technical & Project Teams

Reach specification specialists for UL assembly questions, product data, or a project quote on drywall, ceilings, and cement board systems. Architects, specification writers, and general contractors use this channel for fire resistance rating clarifications, STC rating stack reviews, and wet-area substrate substitutions before buyout. Typical first replies include UL design IDs, 5/8 in Type X thickness charts, VOC emissions sheets, and wet-area Mold Tough / Durock substitution notes—not generic catalog PDFs.

Chicago headquarters coordinates North American technical responses for Sheetrock gypsum board, acoustical ceilings, Durock cement board, and joint compound finishing systems. Choose the lane that matches your need so we do not bounce documentation requests into commercial quote queues or delay field RFI answers waiting on pricing.

Visit or ship samples

Coordinate sample boards, ceiling tile kits, and cement board swatches through your regional representative before scheduling a plant or showroom visit. Include fire resistance rating hours, STC rating targets, and finish level so we attach the correct UL and joint-compound notes on the first reply.

Technical desk hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:30 PM CT. Domestic plant lead times and distributor yard slots are confirmed before we quote ship dates—especially when import specialty ceilings are under consideration.

Request Spec Support or a Project Quote

Describe your assembly, jurisdiction, and timeline. Fields mirror our inquiry system so the same form works in this page and the compact modal. Helpful attachments include wall sections, ceiling reflected plans, and notes on moisture vapor transmission or mold-resistant board requirements. Include fire hours (1-hour / 2-hour / shaft), STC or NRC targets, finish level (Level 4 or 5), and whether the zone is dry, intermittently wet, or continuously wet.

If your question is documentation-only—CAD details, VOC emissions sheets, or recycled content percentage—say so in the message field and we will route it to the technical library desk instead of a commercial quote queue. We cannot confirm hang-date truck slots until domestic plant capacity and distributor yard windows are verified; when import specialty ceilings are under review, state that explicitly so lead-time risk is disclosed before buyout.
